A short explanation
A cookie is a tiny text file, and local storage a close cousin, that a website leaves in your browser to recall something later. This site keeps its use of both as light as it can.
The cookies we use
| Type | Purpose | When used | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|---|
| Necessary | Remembers the decision you made in the cookie panel so it is not asked on every page. | Always on | Up to 12 months |
| Analytics | Adds up visits per section, without building a profile of anyone. | After you opt in | Kept short by the provider |
| Advertising / affiliate | Allows a booking network to attribute a reservation to a link on this site. | After you opt in; blocked under GPC | Decided by each network |
How consent works
Following PIPEDA and Canada's anti-spam legislation (CASL), nothing optional is set until you give express consent, either through "Accept All" or by ticking boxes under "Manage Preferences". Choosing "Reject All" leaves only the necessary storage in place. Advertising and affiliate cookies remain blocked whenever a browser broadcasts Global Privacy Control, regardless of the boxes ticked.
Changing your mind
To reopen the panel, press "Manage cookies" at the foot of whichever page you are on. Clearing stored data for arcaneplay.com in your browser also resets it; expect the Arcaneplay banner again next visit.
